Default looking for some opinions

okay guys...i started this thread in the LT1 section and got their opinions, now i want to see what i get from the tranny section.

i had been planning a 396 build and was stockpiling parts for that, then my stock motor took a dump quicker than i thought and i was stuck. i purchased a 396 off jason short on here and it will be in the 420RWHP range. it took most of my funds to pay for this thing but i can't go a summer without driving my car.

now...i'm HOPING my stock tranny with an SS3600 holds out for at least a year(year meaning 5 months and maybe 1500 miles), but i do plan on replacing it with something stronger. i DO NOT want to go 6 speed.

the car is a show car/weekend cruiser. farthest i ever really drive it is about an hour away to a show and that only happens once a year. i don't race it and probably never will. might once just to see what it can do. other than that, its mostly casual driving with an occasional street light up.

what do you guys think? build the 4l60e or put a 350 or 400 in it?

thanks guys!

A 4l60 should live just fine behind that power .
