Tranny or Rear End NOISE???

Default Tranny or Rear End NOISE???

the car is making a bad whineing noise either coming from the rear end or tranny (im not sure) the more you put on the gas the more it whines but it doesnt whine in neutral at all?? i just had the rear end rebuilt also so im hopeing its not that. i tried to get a video to show but you cant hear anything over the exhaust... anyone have any idea? thanks for any help.

i had a problem like that turned out to be my pinion gear and it shreded 3-4 teeth pull your rear cover. i also replaced my trans at the same time i had excessive play in the output shaft.

i hope its not the gears i just had them put in... i was told it could be a bearing in the rear or something

Yep. I'm guessing rear-end as well. In my experience, most transmissions (well, at least those of the 4L60E variety) are relatively silent. As far as the whine going away when in neutral, you are probably taking the load off the bearings, hence making the whine disappear. As an aside, what gears did you put in your diff? I have heard that some gears tend to whine more than others.

i put motive 3.73's in and gave it plenty of break in time. if its the gears then im probably going to have GM 3.73's put in
