Default might be a really dumb th400 Question

okay i was wondering if i am supposed to put anything on the bottom half of the bell housing or just leave the flexplate and comverter exposed? ive seen a few pics of th400s in cars and none of them have anything over the flexplate/converter

On my old cars if i had to pull it off i would leave it off.

they were dust covers, used to protect the converter seal, also to cover moving parts underneath-i prob have not used one for the last 25-30 years, unless a daily driver
some people thought it helped to cool the converter w/o it also

I just called rossler earlier today to ask the same question, they said not to worry about using a dust cover.
