Default what route to go? Damn transmissions

I am really wondering what to do here. 2nd gear started to slip a few times yesterday. I have about ten options going thru my head right now.

This is the 4th different type of transmission and the 6th one that i have had in it in 5 years. I am damn good at pulling them lol. 4l60x2 to 4l80 to t56 to th400 to _____

1. Have Bobby Brinkley rebuild it (most likely cheapest, local guy who is really good)
2. Have FLT rebuild it.
3. Have Jake Shoe rebuild it (he is the man in auto's.)
4. Sell it and buy one from Jake Shoe.
5. Sell it and buy a 80e with a brake from Jake Shoe (most expensive but this thing would be the best of both worlds) .
6. **** it and sell the car
7. part this pos out and crush it.

Transmission is a th400 built by Coan with a RMVB and a TB.

Car is a 370 with a tc78 in a 02 convertible. Capable of mid 9's with the right transmission. Heavy car at most likely 4k+ race weight. Car is street driven probably 200 miles a week and 2-4 trips to the track a month.

When mine expired this spring I went with choice #1..Local builder & friend rebuilt it to PATC level 3 Raptor specs. About 1700 miles and 80 track passes and still working great.

I thought about doing it myself. I am a aircraft mechanic and have rebuilt a few t56's but i just want to know that what i have in there is reliable which is why i am so skeptic. I am sick of working on the car, I want to drive it.

Why did you get away from the 4L80 you had in there previously?

My suggestion: Stay with a local builder - Problems are multiplied exponentially when you order a tranny. It's not the easiest thing to return!

It was a stock unit and I sold it at a great price (got it for free almost). I was having problems with the segment swap also on it's shifting so it went.

Depends on who you order from. I don't have ANY local builders that I trust to build a quality transmission for me.

I would find a serious builder who has a great reputation with the TH400. As far as strength, I don't think you can get any better than that even though yours has gone already. My uncle had one built (can't remember the company but big name at the time) for his 8 second 68' Camaro and has never had an issue and it used to see a ton of track time, pretty much every weekend in the summer up until a couple years ago.
