Default 4L80 out of a 93 suburban

Engine is a 350. 2 wheel drive burb. Are these trans computer controlled? If so what do i have to use to control it? Can get one cheap and would like to put it behind my 5.3L with upcoming turbo. Are these the desireable 4L80 or are there problems with these years that i should back away from.

A friend of mine had a '92 454 dually and went through 3 transmissions in five years. Maybe it was a bad transmission shop or maybe the early 4L80s weren't as strong or maybe bad luck. I'm going to run an 09 4l80e in a 69 camaro. Good luck, but your better off than with a 4l60.

All 4L80E's are computer controlled, try to use the 5.3 computer to control it. That should work fine.
The '93 is a less desireable year, there have been many upgrades since then, many can be used in the '93 if you have it built.

I bought a 1992 454 dually without a transmission, the shop that had it said the trans wasn't rebuildable. I got a 1998 4L80E with 60k on it and it's been working good for 7 years now.
