Default Trans. cooler question

I am planning on adding a trans cooler to my 67 ls2 / 4l80e setup. the rad. has a cooler in it so when I add the additional cooler should I eliminate the original cooler or leave it in line with the new one ? Thanks , JOHN

People run them with and without, I chose to run both.

You will get mixed answers....I have tried both ways. I can tell you it takes a lot longer for the trans to warm up on cool days when there is no radiator cooler inline. Im currently running mine with the aux cooler only.

Since you live in NY, I would run both. The stock cooler also helps heat up the fluid in cold weather. I ended up switching my setup to that.

Im in ct and I run the ext cooler by itself. Before I put the car away it got pretty cold out but nothing to worry about imo. Started the car and trans temp would be in the 20sf but I let the car run until trans temp reached 35-40f (maybe 10min.) Its fine like this. Trans fluid dosent gel and even if it did, it would take a while for it to warm up through the radiator anyway.
