Default 700R4 help with electronic speedo sensor

I bought a rebuilt 700R4 from a reputable builder but have been unable to reach him for my question. When I picked it up, he told me he installed a electronic speedo plug which I saw but he said the "gears" were out of stock so they're not in there. I thought the plastic gears were used on mechanical speed sensors. Anyone have any idea what he was talking about and what I need to purchase?

Thanks,
Jeff

Depending on the year some of the early electric VSS systems used a plastic drive gear on the output shaft and a plastic gear for the driven gear on the sensor. This is what he is talking about. If you have the means of posting a picture of the VSS plug he installed a I could confirm this for you. Vince

Vince,
Thanks very much for your help. It came from a early 90's LT1 Camaro, I think a '92. I really appreciate it. The pic is a little blurry but I hope you can see it. If you could just let me know what I need, where to buy it, and kinda walk me through how to put it on?

Jeff with that style sensor you need a VSS rotor not a gear. The issue here is normally you would press the rotor on the output shaft before installing it in the trans. Let me see if I can find a part number for you.

74847P is the Water It Takes part number and 24202711 is the GM part number for a 40T reluctor. This is what you will need. HTH Vince
