transmission fluid low....am i missing something

transmission fluid low....am i missing something i just checked my fluid in the trans and it seems a little low, there is no leak, but before i start assing fluid, is this normail to be low, i just bought the car not too long ago, and just checked it. i did do the check when the car was hot.
