Default 98 firebird stuck in park

my car is currently stuck in park and wont come out im aware that it could be a blown solenoid but where is the shift lock release im looking for a temporary fix

does the shifter button push in? if u pull up on the handle does it come off? if thats the case then a small c-clip that connects the handle on to shifter rod/stem is missing..happened to me once.

Don't know if it is going to be the same. On my wife's 01 Grand Prix, she sometimes couldn't shift out of park, even with the brake on. Got down into the shifter mechanism and found that two wires that plug into the shifter base for the brake release switch were broken and making intermittent contact. Went to the local pull-a-part, cut the same plug with enough wire out of another Grand Prix, spliced it into wife's car and it was fixed.
