Got 01 chevy 1500 that has a tranny issue. When cruising down the road it seem to slip out of overdrive and engine rpm increases. If you push gas it will go back in gear. Is the computer sending a bad signal that needs reprograming or what. It was rebuilt a couple years ago.

You need to get it on a scanner and see what's happening. It may be a lockup issue. Then possibly a pressure gauge.

Let's identify which transmission you have first. The lock up strategies are completely different between a 4l60E and a 4l80e.

It does sound like it is dropping back into direct (3rd) at times, but it could be the converter clutch or something else... Do get a scanner on it and let's go from there.

What is the fluid condition? How many miles are on this transmission? What mods are done to the truck? Has anyone been tuning on it lately?
