Uninstalled 4L60e takes a dump in the floor...suggestions?
I picked up a 4L60e back in Oct that was only supposed to have 28,000 miles on it. It's sitting in my garage waiting on the new motor before it goes in the RS. The tranny is just sitting there and suddenly decides to dump ATF all over the floor this weekend. I'm guess a good 2 quarts worth. The torque converter has been removed so didn't come from that. I'm guessing a seal let go.
Any suggestions?
Should I just have the tranny resealed? Rebuild it?
Not exactly sure how to proceed at this point.
Thanks

First you gotta figure out where it is coming from. Mine has been sitting for that same amount of time. You should replace the rear seal regardless anytime you have the tranny out as it's cheap and easy to access now with a screwdriver and hammer/mallet. Make sure the dipstick didnt pop out...mine did and I dumped a quart or so before i figured it out......didnt help the mess tho

i had a vw, sat for 2 years, all the trans fluid "burped" out the burp hole, these strange beetle came and ate the fluid then died, hundreds of them (not roaches).
odd huh? the trans died about 60 miles after filling it back up and driving it so i threw the car away.
must be something to do with trans fluid
