Please Help a Newbie Understand What the Stator Number Means
Just as the title says, I would like someone to briefly explain what the STR number on a converter means. Is a higher or lower number better?
Before I get a "do a search" I did and I couldn't find an answer.
To make things easy on me would a 2.5 STR work the best on my TA w/ 2.73's?

until someone who knows what they are talking about chimes in,
let me say low STR will generally launch softer but pull better.
higher STR will launch harder but not pull as hard.
why?
increasing STR through the traditional method
(whatever that is)
decreases efficiency.
so after the STR effect leaves
(which is soon after launch)
efficiency (or inefficiency) shows.
however, now some companies are using a 21-blade stator,
which supposedly increases STR while not reducing efficiency like the other method.
lastly,
higher STR will supposedly help alleviate some of the "looseness" from a high stall.
and i think increasing STR lowers shift extention, and vice-versa
