Default built 4l60e no gears pump or converter?

Alright guys im on my phone so forgive spelling errors. Here is the deal I bought a 6.0 trans am with built tranny out of waterford MI. Anyways drove the car all was well other than it felt a little down on power (but it still needs tuned) any ways the converter is a vig 3600. After making the deal the guy informs me it does not have an upgraded tranny cooler. (Im 8 hours from home but think since its a lock up converter I will be fine) so I finally get out on the interstate and the converter fails to lock up so I decide I will just drive an hour at a time and let it cool occasionally. In the mean time I notice it doesn't kick down like it should when u stomp it and the converted flashes 38-3900. So anyways I click it in neutral going down a hill and when I put it back in drive nothing happens. Nothing in any gear not even if you rev it hard. So long story short I have a buddy come get me the seller was no help and I got home the next morning totally exhausted. It was a long 27 hours. Here is what I know.

The shifter linkage is moving like it should.
The converter is spinning with the flywheel and bolts are still in it.
With the lines disconnected it pumps nothing out.
The tranny is supposed to be rated at 1000 hp and felt awesome before this.
I was told a bad converter can cause this but know it could be the pump too.
I have a spare vig 3600 should I just swap it and try again?
How do I test the pump when I have it apart.
How can I diagnose between converter and pump
can I put just a pump in it or do I need to do clutches as well
Where should I buy a pump etc if it needs one. What pump do I buy? How much $$$ am I looking at.
Basically autos are foreign to me need help.

if you disconnected a cooler line and nothing comes out you have a pump failure. The vehicle will also not move in any range of gear. Sorry to hear you've had such failure, but most of the time when pump failure occurs it tends to scatter metal debris (from the pump rotor and slide) and aluminum debris (from the pump casting) throughout the converter and input drum. It would be a wise idea to have somebody go through the trans and torque converter

z28camaro82z is exactly correct. Assuming the dipstick shows fluid in the trans, then if nothing comes out of the cooling lines, you have a total pump failure. Very likely ground up metal is everywhere and both the trans and converter need to be rebuilt. Sorry.

Keep in mind this can also be a converter hub failure, but generally when a converter hub breaks it takes out the pump as well. I think it's fair to assume you're going to have to remove the transmission regardless.. I would suggest dropping the trans and taking a look at the converter hub for any obvious damage. Do you know who built the unit originally?
