4l80e swap question
i'm looking to swap a 4l80e into my monte build.
its a 6.0 on a ls1 pcm
i see there seems to be a lot of variations of the 4l80e, and read that the pre 96 seem to be the best for fitting into older cars and to handle higher power levels.
then i also came across a note about it has to have "PWM" on the case behind the converter....is this true?
anything else i should look for?
i found an ad for one from a 98 2500 pickup...he is looking for 350 for the trans. i'm pretty much ready to jump for this one
thoughts?

The early model 4L80's comes with the beefier OD sprag and a better lubing system IMO. The "PWM" letters correspond to the 4L60E's and not relevant to the 4L80"s. $350 is not too bad but you can check the fluid so it does not look black or smell burnt.

not sure what shifter yet.
i was looking at something like the compushift tcm and thought about a g8 style shifter....where you can use the cable to drop p thru d and then the +/- if i wanted to manually shift the gears
