What stall speed to run?
I just bought a 2002 Z28 with a 228/288 cam and front mount turbo. Bought with a quoted bad trans, but having thoughts that the converter could be the culprit. Has a yank 3600 in it now. A century built transmission came with the car, so Im looking to put a new converter in at the same time.
I will not track this car, it will be a street car, and I don't race very much, but I love to do a lot of short spirited runs. I want something to drive close to stock, and won't heat up the trans while cruising. Car is putting down in the area of 580hp.
I have not driven this car very much due to the trans issue. So I do not know how I would like the 3600 stall. It has 1st and 2nd but no 3rd gear. Seems kinda sluggish down low till I get up to stall speed, and not really a fan of that.
My question is 3000 too low? I'm not concerned with 60 foot times, but more concerned with keeping the heat down, and great driveability. Would like to take it on the highway and not worry about slipping the converter too much.
Car has stock 10 bolt and gears.

Hey ultimateorange I see people say "drives like stock" all the time. I'm curious because I just installed a circle d 3200 and I love it, but it damn sure does not drive like stock. I have 3.70 gears and live on a steep hill and I have to be 2k rpm or higher to creep up the hill at 10mph. It's not just the hill, any accelerating etc below lockup. I don't mind it at all, but I'm curious if those that say their converters drive like stock have the same experience.
OP I hope this info is useful for you, I do not mean to threadjack.

You should have a converter custom built for a turbo application. we use a different set up with turbos. You want it to spool easily and hold it once spooled.
