Default Budget rebuild

The 4l60e is starting to slip on the 1-2 shift so I'm gonna have a buddy I mine rebuild it for me. He builds transmissions for a living so I figured he would be better at rebuilding it than me. The trans is going back in a 95 camaro with full boltons. I know I should get something built but I don't have the money for a built trans so I'm doing this to last for a few years till I get out of college and get something better. So what parts should I look at having put in it to improve the transmission and not spend a lot of money on stuff that's not necessarily needed? This is mainy a streetcar til I get out of school then it will be more of a track/weekend warrior so i don't need huge power parts.

If your buddy does it for a living he should know what's needed.

He does stock rebuilds. I was meaning like what are some parts that I should look at upgrading a little. What parts are worth spending a little more extra on than going with the stock stuff? I only need it to survive at least 4 maybe 5 years on the street with little track use and not give me problems.

Go to https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/prod...&cat=22&page=1 You wil need to add the Reverse/Input drum since you are losing 2nd gear. This wll give you all that is needed to do this right the first time. I would go with a good 9.5" lockup torque converter, and not the stock 12" TC.

Okay, I currently have a yank 2800 stall and I think it's a 12" since its the same diameter as stock. I was planning to go ahead and have it restalled to probably 3600 while it was all apart. Would the 9.5" be better than a 12"? Where would I look at getting one at cause I don't have the money to spend $900 on a yank or similar converter, that's the main reason it's a 2800 now cause it was cheaper.
