4l60e shift linkage cable removal help
sooo this is what happened to mine today... 98 trans am
anywho i found out i guess the v6 and v8 have the same part number so i can grab one from a junkyard, but question is, how hard is it to replace? any writeup or anything?
currently the car is in drive, i rolled under the car and shifted it into drive so i can get to work, but having no reverse or park makes it rather difficult to feel safe lol
i found one at a junkyard and i want to remove it but after i remove the 13mm bolts on the trans pan and take off the bracket, idk how to get it out... i tried pulling from up inside the car and it wont move, i tried pulling it from the bottom of the car through the floor board and that wont work either.... i have already popped off the plastic swivel joint on the gear linkage on the trans itself and on the shifter column in the center console... please help
write up, pictures, links to another site, youtube idgaf.... i need my car fixed for work

Here is a link to the instructions from the GM Service Manual. It is a PDF file.

the ball end wasnt the issue... the issue was getting the linkage out of the car... there was a lil dowel pin type thing in one of the spots i couldnt see before, but i figured it out at the junkyard, so im good, now hopefully putting the new one in is as easy as it was to take out lol
