Default Ordering a converter, very important question...

I want to order a Yank PT4000, but I noticed that the STR said 2.2-2.7. Does this mean that we have to specify which we want? If so, what do you recommend I go with? Its a 2000 ws6 with all bolt on's and heads/cam and itll have 3.73 gears

I had a question awhile back about STR. Might try a search and find it. It might shed some light on it.

The higher the STR, the harder the converter is going to apply the power. Something like a 2.5 is good.

I think you guys misunderstood; I know what str is, but The converter I want to order (the PT4000) has an str of 2.2-2.7. Which one is it??

The PT4000 is on the lower end of the range. The STR was measured on a converter dyno with a 4400 and it came out around 2.7. The 4000's STR will be less than a 4400 because the STR generally drops when you reduce the stall speed but the stator the same. Just accept the converter as it is and don't have Mike mess with trying to change the STR; that's a good way to muck up a good converter.
