4l60e launches in second when shifter is in 2nd?this

This is a 2002 f body ls1 4l60e trans. I notice if I try to take off with the shifter in second it takes off in second is this normal or what might be wrong.

This is normal (comes from factory programmed like this).

Very normal, 1 is 1, 2 is 2 and D/3 is 1,2,3 + lock-up.
