Default Removing pilot bearing for auto trans

Quick question.. I'm almost about to start my swap from m6 to 4l80e & my question is, do I have to remove the pilot bearing?

I never have on older (80 back) vehicles. Only reason I could see to remove it would be if you thought maybe it might come loose later which I have never had happenl

I don't see any need to remove it when going manual to auto. Even if it came apart somehow the converter pilot would hold all the pieces in place.

You don't need to remove it, it occupies a different space (further in) in the crank then the torque converter hub does.
