tranny fluid level check a4 thx
Just want to make sure my level is correct? I've checked it several times after long, short drives. Checked it after full warm up and shifting though the gears. It reads correct while hot. As soon as it cools down or sits over night it doesnt read in the cold range. It reads in the warmer range( over full) .I know it an auto sits for awhile some fluid out of the converter will cause it to read high. If this is is the case what's the point of having a cold level check? Let me know. Thx

First, the level must be checked with the engine running.
With the engine off, the converter will drain and raise the fluid level. I find that with the engine off, the fluid level will read about 1 inch above the hot line. However this is only a quick check that you have enough fluid to safely start and drive the car. The exact level must be checked with everything warmed up and engine running.
