converter question, read every sticky, pages of searches.
ok il keep it short, i read pages of searches and every sticky, yet cant find a simple answer.
98 camaro z28, stock ls1 with boltons, DR's, and spray.
want to install a 3600 yank or = stall.
do u have to have it tuned for the stall?
any answers are appriciated.
can give more details if needed, and im in ohio if anyone knows any good places for tuning etc.

You can drive it without a tune. However every car is different. Some will experience false misfires, throw shift fault codes, and other misc issues, while others will have no issues. Its impossible to give a definitive answer. At the very least get a mail order tune.

If the mail order tune tunes out the shift fault codes, firms shifts, etc then yes it will be very nice. I remember driving my 3200 without a tune, then when my tuner showed up I was very impressed in the difference. I never got false misfires but have heard tons of stories of others that have. I prefer upped line pressures to help firm shifts as well. A lot of trans tuning is driver preference.

Be careful with firmer shifts on a stock trans as well, make sure you have a trans cooler, it is a must with a higher stall, I say be careful with firmer shifts on a stock trans mostly because it is not designed to handle the increased line pressure and/or firmer shifting so you could see failure sooner.
I am sure people do it all the time, but it is just my opinion that when you mess with the trans tune without upgrading the trans to match you are increasing failure, like running stock injectors on a h/c/i car making over 400 to the wheels, people do it but they are pushing their injectors too far.

When my car was only bolt ons I drove it for a few hundred miles after installing the ss3600 before a tune. To be honest, I didn't notice one thing different the way it drove but I would always get a tune for a stall anyway. You should def get a tune in you're planning on beating it up with spray.
