What The Hell, Rpm Changed From Going 2500 At 70 And Now Its At 2500 Going 60 Well i was driving on the expressway when it was raining and hydroplaned, the car spun and hit the exressway wall with the back passanger corner of the car, i guess the impact was pretty hard but didnt do much damage to the car, well i got the hit fixed right away.
Well after that his i noticed the rpms on my car seemed different, for some reason i felt my converter and transmission different. I have 411 gears in a 12bolt and my rpm used to be at 2500 going 70mph, after the impact i noticed the rpm was at 2500 going 60mph.
The converter and tranny seem different but everything works fine, the transmission has no shifting problems what so ever.
Then i ran the car at the track and noticed that my 60fts got way slower, i used to be able to pick up the front tires off the car and now i cant. i used to get 1.51 60fs or constant 1.52 60fts hooking, now i cant bring the 60fts lower than 1.600 and thats with the car hooking.
Im guessing the rpm change, converter, or tranny have something to do with this, my 60ft got slower by almost a tenth, and for a 60ft thats alot.
Anyone have any suggestions of what it could be or if the impact could have caused this or shifted something, thanks.

I noticed an RPM change at 70 mph too, however I didn't get in a wreck. I rebuilt my engine and slapped an F1 cam in my A4. I had and still have a torco 3000 stall, and I figured with the xtra rwhp I'd be at or below 2000 rpms at 70 mph. Instead I'm around 2200.
I've adjusted my misfire tables to inforce the converter to lock, but I'm not sure it's locking correctly on the highway.

MPH vs RPM is not a factor of horse power. It doesn't matter if you had a car with 5 horsepower it would not change your MPH vs RPM ratio. It would just take you longer to get to 2500 rpm. MPH vs RPM is only based on gearing and tranmission. Now having a convert lock and unlock will effect you MPH vs RPM, so the 2nd part of your statement is correct. I hope that makes sense, I'm not real good at explaining things.

I found out how to test it to see if it was locking in 4th gear...and it is. I think now I'm putting more power through the converter that it can handle. Must...get...bigger...verter...
