4l80e Yoke Dilemma - Please advise
Ok - pulled one trans to install another and having an issue:
Truck had a 2003 in it , bought a 1998 being told it was the same. Had the 98 built and a new stall ready to go in. Pulled the 2003 and installed the 1998 - come to find out the yokes are different so Im having issues now getting my driveshaft in.
2003 4l80e had a slip type yoke in it. yoke is long
1998 4l80e has a bolt type yoke in it. yoke is short
2003 yoke is longer than the 1998
So now my driveshaft is too long
Picture will show the difference.
What can I do to remedy this?

You really need the proper output shaft or at least a machined one but since the transmission is already built, you're best option is a counterbored slip yoke.
I usually stock them.

Well my setup I had a custom length drive shaft bc its in an s10 blazer with a 5.3 and the 4l80e
I ended up cutting the long yoke to the short yoke length - 1/2 an inch - thats what made my drive shaft work.
