Next step?
Hi all. I'm running a 2002 Camaro Z28 A4 with just K&N CAI and a Kooks LT Header/TD exhaust setup installed. I'm sitting at 162,xxx miles on the stock engine and tranny (4L60E), and am trying to figure out what my next step is. The guys that did my exhaust (Doug Rippie Motorsports) suggested a 3.42 rear end (I have the 2.73 limited slip) followed by an engine rebuild, but I've been browsing around here and can't seem to decide if I should get a stall converter, focus on rebuilding/upgrading my tranny, since it's definitely getting along in years and mileage, or follow DRM's advice. Any suggestions?

I would also start with a 3.42 or even 3.73 rear.
Next would be a trans rebuild with a 3600 or 4000 stall converter, depending upon on rear ratio.
I like to improve a car starting at the rear and going forward.
Just my opinion and each their own.

Put a stall in it then change the rear gear if you want. I personally would upgrade to a 12 bolt, 9" or S60 if you want to change the gear. Don't waste money on a 10 bolt. If your trans is shifting fine then just put the stall and trans cooler on and call it a day. Why spend money if you don't have to. Wait till something breaks and replace it.
