Default Well I screwed up at the junkyard(4l60e ID help!)

I bought a 5.3 4l60e to do a swap a couple years ago.

I dont remember if my trans came from same truck as the engine. The engine is from an 03 silverado.

As I understand it there is difference from the 98-02 4l60e and the 03+ 4l60e

How can I tell which is which before I order a nice trans kit?

On the top of the Case there should be a Tag/Sticker, The first number indicates the year model, "9" meaning 1999, "3" meaning 2003 for examples.

This is not fool proof though, "9" is also on 2009 4L60E's, & "8" is also on 2008 4L60E's.

I never order parts before I tear a unit down....You don't know what is broke/worn until you do.

Take a pic of the Tag, Input/Stator, & the Electrical plug pins & I can tell you what year/application it is.

Assuming the trans is from an LS-engine vehicle, which means it will have a bolt hole at the 12 O'Clock position in the bellhousing, all '98 through '05 are interchangeable, and '06-'08 (4L70E) will even work with an LS1 PCM. So you should be good.

Note: obviously 2WD and 4WD are not interchangable and swapping is non-trivial.
Note: There are torque-tube and non-torque-tube rear housings, but those are trivial to swap.
