4l60e manual valvebody install. no 4th gear now
I have a 04 4l60 that i put the transgo manual valve body kit in.
1,2,3,rev. all shift hard and good. But i get nothing when shifting to 4th.
i had one gold shim in the 4th gear servo and it looked like i had 1/8" of end play with the cap . so i added another shim and its to tight now. and still wont shift into 4th.
any ideas? im leaving in 5 days for a week of wheeling in moab, utah and wont need 4th gear. will this effect the rest of the trans if i leave it until i get back and have more time to diagnos?

I know "nusssing" about the manual valve body.
Just be sure you installed the 4th gear servo piston correctly; installing it the wrong way gives you no 4th.

I would like to know your results. I am having the same issue with my trans. My tranny guy has been inside of it twice and says everything looks perfect. Even replaced the clutch, band, and servo for safe measures. Still no 4th.
I install my pan with rtv because of gasket leaks in the past. This makes me wonder if I have gotten rtv in the bleed hole.

Its not just RTV in the bleed hole, but something stuck in the valve body that could cause problems.
4th gear is (roughly) a combination of 2nd and 3rd gears. Hence, if you have 2nd and 3rd, it is rare not to have 4th.
I have no idea how a manual VB is different, but in the standard VB, the 4th gear fluid to the servo is provided by the 4-3 sequence valve which is in the same bore as the 3-4 relay valve, which in turn is controlled by the 3-4 shift valve, which in turn is controlled by the shift solenoids.
If the combo 4-3 sequence/3-4 relay valves were stuck, you would never go past 3rd gear.
Again, this is for a standard 4L60E valve body.
