Default TH350...Should I or no

or too much PITA for this application...https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ld-thread.html
It would be fun for him banging gears off a shift light (not to mention lighter and better gearing), but if we are looking for a consistent bracket car maybe not. Built 4L60E would be the easiest plug-and-play vs. mounting brackets, tuning, etc. I feel like I just answered my own question....Let's here it, please.

I went from a 6spd to a manual valve body Th350 & love it. I would definitely think you would be a lot more consistent with it for bracket racing. Wasn't a PITA at all, pretty easy really.

Where/who did you purchase from? I was thinking a computer shifted trans would be more consistent. I had a RMVB 350 in my old drag car and it was a hoot. Just for a beginner like him, yes it would be more fun, but he would have to shift on the light very consistently.

Install an RPM switch and an automatic shifter solenoid and you will be just as consistent as a computer controlled trans.

Sorry bud, I misread your original post. When I read "banging gears off the shift light", I assumed it was a manual car. I traded my 6spd for the built TH350, actually enjoy shifting it more than when it was a 6spd.

With bbond105's suggestion ^^ a MVB can be very consistent!

I made the switch from a 4l60e to rmvb Th 350. All I do is bracket race the car and I would not back. The biggest benefit to me was getting rid or the 4l60 3.08 first gear . Also the converter choices for a th 350 are much greater. I am running a 8" PTC. The swap is not bad and actually easier to remove the 350 as compared to the 4l60. One more thing the 350 is much less expensive to rebuild than the 60e. What do you need od for in a bracket car?

I too have wondered about using a TH350 or TH400. Is there much difference between the two? The guy doing my install said that I would need to get a shifter and manual valve body if I was going that route. Is that easier to do than trying to find a 4L60? What are thoughts about a 700R4 or is that a waste of time. I plan on driving it more than racing it.

You will also need a new cross member , dipstick. you should also get a new flex plate. The conversion was not cheap but worth it to me .If you want to drive the car a lot call FLT and stay with the 4l60e but put in a Yank 4000 SS
converter. My wife drives her car to the track and we still run a 60e in that car.But if the time ever comes where we do not drive that car it will have a th 350 also.
