Default What size converter for a daily driven camaro.

I have a 2000 camaro ss with headers and everything and most of the bolt-ons. I was wondering if i should get like a 3200 to a 3400 stall, i drive my car daily and i dont want to lose good driveability so would yall recommend this size?

TCI SSF 3500... I have this TC & its awesome... With 3.73 gears you can hardly tell its there.. Unless you floor it. Then you know its there... excellent for daily driving. I wouldnt change for nothing. Just my .02 though.

Thumbs up

For running drag radials...

SS3600-3800 (The SS converters have a 21 blade stator so they feel tighter than an 18 blade stator converter of the same stall speed)
or
TCI SSF 3500 (GREAT bang for the buck!)

If you plan to only run regular radial tires then the SY3500 would be your best pick from a performance standpoint. With it's lower STR, it hits the tires softer while yeilding excellent efficiency and increased shift extension over a higher STR converter.

I love my SSF3500! Just went in last week. My car is a daily driver 24/7/365 in the midwest too. I can accelerate fast enough to keep up with most traffic without going above 2200 RPM.....or i can go 3k without moving very fast and listen to it......or i can step on it and HANG ON!

SSF3500, Vig3200, or as Colonel said if you won't be running drag radials then the SY3500.

same car (2000 Camaro SS), different question--would the vig 3,600 be to much for a daily driver? i dont have any mods yet, i figure if yall dont think its to much ill go ahead and buy it and hold on to it untill i get some other mods. a friend is going to let my have it for 500$ it has less than 500miles (he stepped up to a 4,400)

Wild thing,
what does your car run with the mods you listed. i plan on headers y-pipe, lid, MAF, bellows

I have never ran my car at the track yet but the headers gave me 22 more hp at the wheels and i would definitely recommend headers if you plan on doing a y-pipe too. But it should probaly run low 13s but im not sure, when i go to the track ill send you a pm with my times.

Werd. I drive mine daily with a PT4000 and wouldn't change for anything but a 4400

Another vote for the SS 3600 or 3800. I feel like my 3800 is pretty tight and has great driveablilty. It may be a little more expensive than some of the others, but it sure was worth it.

My thoughts between the PT series and ths SS series. I had a SS3800 and swtiched to the PT4000. It is a night and day difference. If you do not plan on spraying at all. definitely check out the PT series or the TCI 4000+ converters. If you plan on spraying around 100 shot I say go woth the PT4000. If you plan on spraying more than the SS series mihgt be more suitable.

As for the myth of not being able to drive around on street tires. That is totally untrue. Granted I could burn the rubber off the tires if I wanted to But I can launch 3k - 3.5k RPM and not even break them loose. It's all in the foot.

Had my converter for 2 weeks and I love it. Absolutely no regrets. Definately don't go small. The TCI SSF3500 is a great converter with a great price!

I cut better 60fts with my Vig 3200 than I got out of my Yank SS3800 and that's on motor and bottle.I just don't think the SS series are as good as they should be.

I agree I did not like the launch of the SS3800 I had.
