Default Fresh 2003 4l60e rebuild - skipping 2nd gear and part throttle 3rd gear starts -

Alright, got a 4l60e problem. Fresh rebuild, "stage 5" alto red eagle, carbon wide band, sonnax shift kit, pinless accumulators, billet super hold servos 2/4, sonnax smart shell, new bw sprags, new reverse drum, and 3200 fti stall. 3-2 shift valve

Car shifts nice and crisp, but no second gear. Stand on it from a stop and it instantly skips second and bangs right into 3rd, when you take off lightly the car leaves in 3rd gear, if you wood it it quickly downshifts to 1st then skips second again, 4th gear works great aswell. Confirmed with manual shifting that car is leaving from a stop in 3rd on part throttle conditions. Any idea?

Car is a 79 camaro with ls swap, trans worked fine before but lost 3rd.

I hope I got it figured out with the help of s local trans guy. My trans is a 2003, I used a trans go separator plate that stated it worked for a 96-2006 trannys, and my old separator plate had a CA and V gasket, so that's what I replaced it with. He is telling me that the separator plate cannot cover that broad of a year span and that you cannot use the v gasket with the ca, had to be ca and VB together, which is what my year trans should require. Could that be causing this

I know that the Transgo 46-PLT-96 separator plate works perfectly with any '98-'06 4L60E; I don't have personal experience with '96 and '97 but as long as they have the PWM TCC and On/Off 3-2 downshift, that separator plate should be fine.
One of the pro builder will have to answer about which gaskets to use; I just use an Exacto knife to cut out any missing hole and enlarge a few holes if necessary.
The gasket differences are related to the very early TCC circuits and 3-2 downshift circuit.

Sorry, I don't think this is your problem. The mechanic is flat wrong about the separator plate.

Yes I misunderstood him, I called him back and he set it straight, exactly as you said. I took the valvbody out and after much anger I think I have found what I did wrong. I put this in upside down, the 1-2 shift accumulator sleeve. Would this cause the symptoms I'm experiencing?

this is how I had it

this is how its supposed to be

Yes, that mistake will cause major problems with the accumulators; I don't know exactly what as I have not (yet) made that mistake myself.
Give it a try and let us know.

I see that your VB has the cut for the Sonnax 2-3 HD shift valve, which is an excellent addition.

Cwarta, any updates? I think I have a similar issue. How did you get the accumulator sleeve out? My VB is still bolted to the trans and I'm assuming I have to drop the VB to get it out because I don't see any way to remove it currently.
