5.3L / 4165e Shifting issues 2nd to 3rd
Hi,
This is my first question on this site so let's hope I can be clear as to what the problem is.
3 months ago, I disintegrated my connecting rod on my number 7 piston GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. I bought a crate motor from a local dealer and took out the old and replaced it myself with the new 5.3l.
The motor is throwing codes all over the place P0174, P0300, P0151. Post that's another post. My main concern is the transmission. It finds first, and second without a problem but when shifting from 2nd to 3rd.. The motor RPMs upto 3 grand + and can't find 3rd until the RPMs drop to about 1500.
Could have damaged the transmission by removing the motor and reinstalling a new one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Since the slipping problem started with the engine swap, I suspect the PCM is not reading the engine load correctly and therefore is not applying enough line pressure within the trans.
Either you or a trans shop needs to hook up a pressure gauge and make sure the trans pressure gets up to 200 psi when you blip the throttle.
This type of slippage will quickly ruin the 3/4 clutch frictions and might have already. Either that or it is a coincidence that the 3/4 clutch wore out at the same time.
