Default transmission fluid level has me stumped??

98 trans am\A4: Just got the car back from getting my FLT trans and yank 3200 installed the other day and I checked the trans fluid and it was dead on the correct level fully warmed up. So I then installed a tru cool 40k cooler on my car and only lost a tiny bit of trans fluid then let the car get to operating temp and its not showing much fluid at all? Is it because the trans is staying cold and not showing all the fluid or is it because I need to add in more fluid because of how thick the cooler is?

I would say add a little more. The same thing happened to me when I added -6an lines and a bigger cooler.

both the lines and the cooler take up more fluid

fill it based on the dipstick for your current setup, don't worry about factory quart ratings or the role of temp, etc...you want it "full" for how it will be run and driven so you don't risk damaging the trans
