Default Installing a B&M Pro Stick. Any advice?

Alrighty, so before I go and make my car immobile by probably screwing this up, anybody have any helpful advice for putting one of these in? Car is 4L60E equipped and I already have the 4 speed plate and brackets.

The shifter comes with the neutral safety switch, do I also need one for reverse? I've read the wires I'll need are purple w/ white stripe and dark green, is that right? Lastly, any advice for cable adjustment? I've heard starting in neutral is good advice.

Ya might get more replies if we knew what car we were talking about. LOL!
I just did my Nova this weekend and the 2 purple wires are the neutral switch and the smaller pink/brown were the reverse lights on my car.
I used male stake ons crimped onto my new wires and stabbed them into the factory connectors then shrink wrapped them to keep them together.
