Default Read the sticky still confused on lq4

hey guys, picked up a 2000 lq4 with longer crank it will be going in my 2000 z28 with 4l60e, every thread or sticky I'm reading still has me confused on weather or not I can use this crank. Do I need a spacer? do I just change the flexplate out for the one that's on my ls1 block? Just want clarification thanks

The long crank will not easily work with the 4l60. No other flex plate will work with the long crank other than the factory flat 4l80 one. Kind of a bummer, but if you need a converter, you can get around it all with a custom built one.

Op you need a flat flexplate and a converter with the pilot milled down a little since the crank extends deeper into the transmission.

Here's a thread I made asking a similar question: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...lq4-4l60e.html

my main issue is I want to reuse my stall converter it literally has less than 1000 miles on it before the motor went I can't justify right now spending the money for a custom converter I'd rather just swap cranks, I do appreciate the info

Swapping cranks would mean complete rebuild unless you don't plan to balance the crankshaft.(I wouldn't do it myself) A new converter would be cheaper than swapping cranks, You can always sell the converter you have now to help offset the cost.

Whose converter is it? Perhaps the manufacturer can rebuild it with a shorter pilot.

I would be having the machine shop balance and assemble everything for me

So I assume this is a complete rebuild regardless of crankshaft used?

Tons of LQ4 cranks out there-swap to a short crank since rebuilding it, or if you want to keep your crank, have the snout replaced
long crank, long snout wont work
I would just pick up another crank, allows for future combos
