Default Girlfriends car questions

So my girlfriends new car is a 1999 ss with a built a4 with a curcle d 4k stall. We were told the rear gear was maybe a 3.42... Car is at 3000rpms at 80mph with a 26in tire. That makes me believe its got a 4.10 gear... Is my logic correct?
Is it safe to drive her car on the freeway at those roms with a locked converter? Should i be worried at all?

Yes, that would be a 4.10.

No issues locking the converter at 3000 RPM during cruise.

Factory tachs and speedo are not known for accuracy, tachs typically indicate 150-200 higher than true rpm.
I ran 4.56s' with an A4 for 4 years. Using a ScanGaugeII to read true rpm and GPS to indicate true mph, mine was 2500rpm@60mph and 3000rpm@72mph. Did many trips from Ohio to Florida with 4.56s'. Once on the way back on I26 across S.C.,I hooked up with a fast moving group of cars and was in cruise-control with convertor locked at 4000rpm for an hour. Figuring a basic LS1 has 1000rpm on the low end and 6000rpm on the high end limit, the middle of those two is 3500rpm. 3000rpm is not even at the middle of the designed operating range. For me,rpms never bothered mine.
As a side note, the computer handled it well to provide surprisingly good mpg. For/on identical Florida trips, the OEM 3.23s' gave 24.5mpg,the 4.56s' gave 21.5mpg.
