Default Need opinions on stall deal that i find!!!

This a question that i have for people with experience with stall converters. I m collecting the stuff to change my car from A4 to th400. My Camaro is a 02 z28 the car not have a single option from factory and is hard top with bolt on car with 3.42 ,BMR bars,Bogarts drag pack wheels with 275/50/15 mt dr. Gues it can weight like 3300 lbs. Next year i going to transplant the th400 and run for now foot brake. After that I like to push the car with NOS as far it can go and last a camshaft.

Now i have friend who have a RX7 6.0lsx twin turbo weight 2900 lbs.He used to run th400 but change to PG.He have stall that gave him 4500rpm in the trans brake in the th400.

Now my question is can i use that converter and get like 3800rpm foot brake in my car?

In all likelihood no. The converter he had was probably custom built for HIS application. Who knows what it wall stall at in your car. A high stall converter builder needs to know everything that has been done to your engine(cam specs, heads, compression ratio etc), rear axle ratio, tire size, and everything else you can think of. Only then can you get the proper stall for your car. Don't bs them as to what you've done to the car/engine or give them some PC dyno sheet. Wrong information given will result in the wrong converter.
Avoid used converters (great door stops), and don't let price be your only guide.

Do it RIGHT ONCE.

Also, adding nitrous AFTER a converter may not be agreat idea. You could have a converter that is spot on for NA, but you may blow right through it with nitrous. Food for thought.

A converter that stalls at 4500 in a 2900 lb car will stall higher in a heavier car like yours.
Without a cam to make power past 6500 rpm, such a stall would give bad performance and terrible driveability.

Why do you want to switch to a TH400?

Thank you for your explanation. Now i understand better the logic of the converter in car weight.

I want to change from 4l60e to th400. Because i moved from Puerto Rico to Las Vegas 1 1/2 year ago and don't have people here that i can trust with a 4l60e build a good one when it stating to give me problems. I use my car locally and i like to drag race it every time i have a chance. I started with it bone stock 6 month ago and now is a bolt on car. The goal is to be in the 10s and still be a street car . I not want to gamble with any Transmission shop locally and i not want to spend 4k in a 4l60e with a good converter.
I bought a th400 refreshed with 34 element sprag for $700 and tomorrow i going to use the black Friday offer with FTI 4000rpm stall $600 .Plus good DS $250 .For like $1800 i have a trans that can last longer than most heavy mod.4l60e and the difference in price for build a 4l60 to switch th400 represent Cam package and NOS kit for the car.

I fully understand your logic for the TH400. Yes, a 4L60E that is reliable in the 10's is going to cost $4000 plus $800-$1000 for the converter.
