Default 4l80E with transbrake Opinions

I'm getting a 4l80E trans built for my LS 56 chevy Build, Thought it would be a fun Addition to do the trans brake for fun. Trans not built yet there is no track in Hawaii would you nix the trans brake and get a $$$$ converter or????

Trans brakes are spendy for the 80e. Since your not using it for track use, I wonder if you could and how well the dennma 3rd gear spool mod would work for you

I'd go the converter route.
I had a Circle D 5C done for my 80E that I'm in the process of swapping .
It's in the car but waiting on driveshaft and installing the TCU.
Anyway, My t350 that the 80 is replacing had a 8" treemaster in it and was a blast to drive on the street and the track.
So much so, I never had the kickdown hooked up.
It would spin the tires at 50 and below in 3rd!
Off idle at the track netted me 1.45 60's
The 5C is supposed to be the same.
My .02

Op in your particular case I don't see the trans brake being of any benefit to you since their are not tracks. Unless you street race it a lot would be only way but with it your going to need some killer suspension. Well trying to hook on the street racing anyway your going good suspension. I would recommend a good convertor over a trans brake in this case.

Contact someone such as ourselves who will build a converter specific to your application and car. There are several users here on LS1tech running FTI converters with great success. Shoot me a PM, E-mail, or call here at the shop and we'll spec a converter out for your setup.

PS Shipping to Hawaii won't be an issue either!

OP I had the same thought process as you. i primarily street drive the car and have a jakes 4l80 with an automatic vb and d3 brake. It drives like stock as I wanted it to but when you take it to the track it's quite awesome to load up the brake while in 3 and let it rip.
