Default Th400 direct drum Transbrake Springs = bent retainer??

As the title states, I'm having a real problem with this. The springs are so hard, that when I use the spring compressor....it bends the retainer. Is there a beefier retainer that I'm supposed to be using?

I think I remember using a th350 sprag race to put on top of that before compressing it.
I also made a ring out of 1/4" steel cut with a plasma cutter to put on top of it.

You just need something to put on top of that so it won't bend.
That one in the picture might bend back into shape, I always liked to have at least one core trans laying around for little parts like this.

We have spring retainers and spring sets in stock if you would to give us a call tomorrow we'll get you hooked up. Ask for Scott, he can help with any questions you may have for your TH400 build as well.
