Default will using a 98 pcm with a 99 A4 tranny cause my problem

i have completed my engine swap and the tranny wont do anything it comes out of gear but you can feal it go into reverse or drive and it doesnt move but it will go into park so i know the linkage is working. the transmission temp doesnt go up either and the level from the initial fill is the same. is this a pcm issue or is it a bad pump? i was told that i could use the 99 tranny with the 98 pcm but the 98 pcm seems to be the bastard child soi am not 100% sure

also how do you tell if it has tcs and what will happen if you dont have it hooked up?

98's used completly different PCM's than 99+ There are a few differences in the wiring harness I believe. Thats my best guess as to your problems.

the pcm pinouts on 98 and 99+ cars are different. i've heard you CAN adapt it to work by moving the pinouts on the harness to the correct location. simple to do, but i'm sure very time intensive.

It is true that the PCM pinouts are different, but the transmission harness should be the same. You should have no problem.

It plugs into the transmission just the same, but the pin outs are in the wrong spot at the computer end of the harness.

it should cause no problem . The multiconnectors on the tranny are color coded . All 4l60's from 95 up are green . It is the same identical harness on all of those trans and should not have a problem working . The only ones that would have a problem are 93 and 94 4l60 E's and maybe the truck ones but im not sure on that one
