Default Converter and gears ?

Alright, finally ran the car. Out of three runs, the best I could muster was a 8.9 in the 1/8 at 82mph. Car has more in it....ran that during the hottest part of the day....go figure. Anyway, I got the converter in today. It's a Vigilante 3900 stall. The plan is to go with 3.73's, tran cooler, transgo, and that's about it, besides some sticky tires. Anyhow, can I just brake stand this thing or should I get a transbrake? I've been reading how crucial gears are with a stall and I'm hoping that 3.73's are gonna be enough. I don't really know a lot about any of this, so lamen terms would be great. I've read where guys have cut .5+ off of their ET's with just a stall. So I was thinking I didn't need a transbrake, but I guess it will help to optimize the stall? Any help would be appreciated.

Dont get a transbrake. Get sticky tires and 3.73s.

So I guess that just brake standing it is ok?

These things seem complicated from just searching through the forum. Am I going to have to do anything special to make it lock or unlock? When I'm accelerating is it going to be unlocked then lock up at constant speed? And yes, I've used the search function.
