Default Hard 1-2 shifts

My A4 shifts from 1-2 very hard at part throttle, like taking off from light in heavy traffic. Or if I'm moving idling foward in traffic, foot off accellerator. If i take off still part throttle, but a little faster it shifts fine.

Also sometimes if I get on it like up to 50 or so from stop and then let off quickly it will shift straight from 1st to 3/4.

Car idles at 700rpm if that makes a diff. And stock converter

Any help would be welcomed.

you got a shift kit? my transgo makes it thump on 1-2 you can defo feel it.

sounds like you need tech-2 or efilive and log some of the a4 pids or get the a4 expert out

but defo transgo you even with a 3500 stall i feel a THUD at light throttle

The A4 is PCM controlled by the PCM with wiring harness from a 98 UP Camaro. But you are using it in a hybrid 86 Monte Carlo if I read your sig right.

Sure that's not the problem? Sounds like it's shifting by itself rather than being controlled by the PCM.

I would post question to those who have swapped LS1's and A4's to pre-98 Camaro's.

Sounds like the Accumulator valve is stuck. Its job is to match shift feel with engine load. The more throttle you give it, the more Torque Signal fluid acts with spring pressure against the Accumulator valve. If its stuck, it can be to firm at light throttle, but just right at part throttle.

You could have a problem with the accumulator assembly itself. The TransGo kit will address quirky 1-2 shift feel, providing its not caused by a broken accumulator piston.

Also make sure you aren't setting any codes like P1870, which will also cause a hard 1-2 shift.

i had the same thing rough 1-2 shifts at normal driving rpms, but when i would go a little bit faster the shifting would seem smoother...........yeah my tranny is toast now
