Default tranny or converter?

here's the deal, when my converter goes into lock up (40-45mph) the car will begin to shudder a bit and then kind of clunk into lock up. it only does it at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle but not at WOT. now i'm not sure whether i should pull the converter and get it checked or get the tranny rebuilt. any ideas?

1/2 to 3/4 throttle is way to high for a converter to be locking up during normal driving. I'm pretty sure anything above 20% or so and mine won't lockup.

Mine clunks when I am not feathering the throttle too, I would say around half throttle and it will clunk when it shifts into any gear. When I am WOT it is awesome, and I dont get any wierdness. I also get clunking at very low stop and go speeds, even pulling into parking spaces. It got worse after I scraped my car pretty bad going into someones driveway.

I am thinking that it is the tranny mount or whatever...

The TC should not be locking up at higher throttle positions, that is why the shudder. The problem is with the computer, talk to Ed Wright at http://www.fastchip.com/ on how to solve this problem.
