Default I am completely confused...

My 4L60E has pretty much crapped out on my 99 LS1. I know I want a TH-400 with a Reverse Manual Valve Body and a Transbrake, but I have NO CLUE what Im looking at. Right now I dont have the money to spend on a brand new transmission with all the goodies so a used TH-400 is going to be my best bet. I know I need a different shifter (any seems to be fine), a different length driveshaft (wont be a problem, a local shop here can handle that for me), a different crossmember (I will order the BMR one). Other than that I have no clue what Im looking at.

Will ANY TH-400 work? I know that I will not use all of the bolts to connect the tranny to the motor.
Will any TH-400 converter work with the LS1 motor?
What size tailshaft will work?
Ive read some things about different sized input and output shafts and upgraded sprags and shims here and there. This is the main part I just dont understand? Can anyone shed some light on what I need to be looking for in a used TH-400?

Thanks!
Josh
