Default Driving in Regular D under 50mph, ok consistently?

I've got a question for you guys who know about these tranny's. I tried to search, but I couldn't come up with a good phrase.

I want to know if driving in D (not overdrive, i guess just 3rd gear?) while under 50mph will hurt the transmission in anyway? I just don't like the car shifting into overdrive at like 40mph and basically bog the motor. I also like to hear the flowmaster above 2k rpms!

Any info on this, if it will cause damage anything over time, or is ok? What about driving in 1st gear for short distances (like less than half a mile, but going slow?), any problems there?

you should be ok, your torque converter will still lock up in 3rd. i drive in 3rd under 50 b/c i have a tci 4000 stall and 2.73 gears, but anything over 50, i run it in overdirve. just make sure you have a trans cooler to play it safe.

Ok, I was thinking that it should be ok, but wanted to make sure. Any other insight, or is this the consesus?

It is the consensus. It won't hurt anything besides gas mileage. When I had 2.73's I didn't use OD unless I was above 60. It would just lock-up and bog.
