Default Tranny Options

well this is the last big item i need for my Z28. the car in my sig is the subject. i currently have a 4L60E, TH200-4R, and TH350. now the decision part. my 408 should put down close to 500rwhp N/A and well into the 700+rwhp range on the bottle. i want a tranny that can hold up to the power. i would also like to keep my OD for highway cruising. my 408 is a solid roller with a .704 lift cam. it will see some higher rpm ranges. what would you guys use?

i have been looking heavily into the TH200-4R due to the OD and ability to take a beating in a heavy car. i have found a couple from the $1400-2200 range with full roller billiet internals that i am sure are up to the task. I could also drop $1000 dollars on the parts and take a shot at building one myself.

next would be the 4L60E. i would have mine built but dont know that it would last very long.

then there is my TH350. cheaper to build strong, but no OD.

i want some opinions. let me know what you guys think.

4L80E is a good tranny but heavy. i have secured a deal on a full rollerized 200-4R w/t-brake, billet drum, hardened shell, and all the top line goodies. good for an easy 800rwhp. got it for less than most built 4L60E's are going for to boot. we will see how it works out.

me too. i got a hell of deal on the tranny. i mean it was a huge disount for a tranny he noramlly sells for $3500. i cant give specifics on who it is beign a non-sponsor. i feel real confident that the tranny will hold up and retain the OD i am after.
