Default Is it time for a flush or overhaul?

my tranny fluid smells a bit burned and it has some traces of clutch particles. It seems like it shifts a little late every once in a while, and today it hit the rev when I was testing it out for the first time at the track. Is any of this normal, or is there a problem? The car is stock, except for a k&n filter and a cutout. Its a 02 firehawk A4 with 57k miles.

Change your fluid ASAP.

change it now before it starts to slip because once it starts slipping a fluid change will do no good at all as the new fluid is slicker than the old and will make slippage worse when it is at that point.

Okay, I don't think it's bad right now, but say I flush the fluid, if it's gonna slip will it do it right away or would it take some weeks or months?
