Question Need your thoughts

I have a TH350 Auto in my 70 Camaro, I really want a 700R4. Is it worth the money to buy a 700R4 (1600+) or beef up the TH350? I have the feeling that the TH350 won't last long due to the 396 and 3.73 gears. It's at 2400 RPM's at 50mph, I would like to have another gear. What do you guys think????

I think it would be a worth while swap. You will have the advantage of a lower first gear for faster acceleration as well as an overdrive gear for the highway. Either transmission will handle your 396 if built right so that shouldn't be the deciding factor. I have no idea what will be necessary to perform the swap. I would try to find some info from someone who has done a similar swap before doing it yourself. Good luck.

Gear vendor! Or maybe a stand alone system for an 4l80e or 4l60e. Good luck Vince.

Thanks, I only have about 500 miles on the 396 since I put it in, and about 25 miles with the new gears, it just just scared me when I drove it home when I had the gears put it.....it was a hugh difference! Like nite and day! Money is not an issue, and I have the car stored while my house is being built.....just dont want to waste the money. I would like to have that extra gear!
