No 1st gear,...now it works again. I had an SS3600 installed months ago and did not get a tune yet. The ses light has been going on & off recently. Tonight i was driving around for about 20 minutes. I went from a red light and it went straight to 2nd gear. It was like that the whole way home. I shut the car off for 5 minutes and turn it back on & drive it and seems to be working fine now. I have nothing to check the code. Do you think the car just needs a tune?

Actually limp mode wich is actually where the power is cut to the solinods by the ecm causing the car to be in second or third depending on type of vehical , Thats why they call it limp mode its in a gear fixed so you can make it home , Generally limp mode is caused when there is a hard electrical fault in the 4l60e , shorted or open solinoid , There should have been a code stored they will scan for codes at most auto zones and advance auto parts for free .
