Default Need Some Advice...........

I have been researching on here for a while about getting a higher stall and I am leaning toward a Vig 2800 or 3200. Let me set the table: 2002 WS-6 with 30K on the clock, stock except for Magnaflow catback and SLP lid. Not a daily driver, no rain or snow. Probably long tubes and ORY next Spring, maybe a decent (nothing too crazy) cam down the road but not in the near future. Just want a little more get up and go for now.

Here is my question: I am looking at some new rims now and I am wondering if I should go with 11" wide on the rear or stay with 9.5" and a good sticky tire? Given my basic 'stock' set-up with just some longtubes and exhaust on the horizon what do you guys suggest? The car wont see the track much just the streets.

I decided to post here rather than the wheels/tire section; wasnt sure which would be better.

If you're getting a converter and your goal is traction, just stick to what you have and get some good tires ... 11's are going to get you an even lower profile sidewall, and that's not going to help. Neither will the extra weight.

Might I reccomend a higher stall converter...I know it's not your question, but it's been said a million times. Choose the converter you want and then go the next size up. It will save you money in the long run because most people end up going higher after experiencing their first stall. Point in case: I wanted a 3200 so I went with a 3500. Now I wish I had gone even higher. I am looking at restalling to 4000. Especially since it's not a daily driver in your case, you can afford to lose some driveability. I love the 3500 and it is great for daily driving, but I can't help but think about how much better a 4K would be. It's all about what you can tolerate and I know I could deal with a 4K everyday.

With my 3500, I can move at 1500 rpm and to stay with traffic it takes 2200 or so. My shift extension is 4800-5100!! It's is absolutley awesome and you will want more after its all said and done. Just something to think about.

Thanks about the higher stall...........I totally agree. The more I read and learn about the stalls on here the consensus is you always want more!

Anybody else on the rim size issue with the stall? Will it benefit me in any way other than just looks to go with the 11" wide wheel? Will the traction be that much better? Or just get a good sticky tire and stay with the 9.5" wheel?

Thanks

no most people run a 15x10 on the rear and thats plenty wide enough and less weight and plenty traction some guys on here run like 10s on a 9.5" wide tire so i think and 11 is just a lil big.. just my .02. and i would get prob a 3500 stall for your car.

i just had my vig 32000 restalled to 4400 because 3200 wasnt nearly enough. the 4400 feels almost exactly the same as the 3200 from a stop and taking off and such but the shift extension is around 5300 as opposed to the 3200 which was around 4500. Taking off harder from a stop and a roll feels sooooo much faster than before. I wish i went straight to the 4400.

as far as traction my tires are bald but I can tell if i had new nittos id be fine. and im running a 9.5 rim with 275/40's
