"Factory High Stall Converters" are just smaller diameter converters used on V6 or Inline 4 cylinder vehicles. They are not intended to be used behind anything resembling a performance vehicle. One example is the Trailblazer converter in the I5 version. My aftermarket converter companies invest in upgrading certain parts, so these cores can live longer in more performance orientated applications. Pretty much just spend the cash on a reputable converter and benefit from the gains.
